Kennesaw State University congratulates the more than 5,000 students named to the Spring 2019 Dean's List. Students enrolled at least 9 credit hours and with a grade point average of at least 3.5 were named to the list.

A total of 11,406 students enrolled during the 2019 spring term at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or to undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

The University of Alabama awarded some 5,716 degrees during its spring commencement May 3-5. With a beautiful campus, dozens of challenging academic programs, expert faculty and numerous opportunities for service and growth, The University of Alabama is a place where legends are made. UA offers its students a premier educational, cultural and social experience with more than 200 undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. The campus gives students the opportunity to interact with faculty performing cutting-edge research.

More than 280 University of Alabama students are receiving hands-on, innovative and advanced educational experiences with dozens of companies and organizations across the United States through UA's Cooperative Education Program for summer 2019. In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student. While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience. Participants maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.

Troy University's Department of Theatre and Dance showed off students' work and ideas with a performance of "The Seagull." A cast of 12 performed the comedy as well as other duties such as set design and technical elements. The show was April 4 in the Malone Blackbox.

Full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who earn a grade point average of 4.0 qualify for the Chancellor's List. The spring semester includes students at the Troy, Ala., campus. Term 4 includes students at TROY's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Ala., along with locations outside of Alabama and online.

Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, has announced the students achieving the Dean's List designation for the 2019 spring semester. To be eligible for the ASU Dean's List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. The complete spring 2019 Dean's List is available on the ASU website.

The Spring Semester includes students at the Troy, Ala., campus. Term 4 includes students at TROY's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Ala., along with locations outside of Alabama and online.

JSU named 1,914 students to the President's and Deans' Lists for their outstanding academic performance during the Spring 2019 semester.

Troy University inducted 20 students into Beta Gamma Sigma during the Sorrell College of Business honors luncheon in April. Founded in 1913, Beta Gamma Sigma is the international business honor society for AACSB-accredited schools, which are the top 5% of business school programs around the world.

Jacksonville State University conferred degrees to 774 students at its spring commencement ceremony on May 3, 2019.

Troy University is proud to recognize the inductees of the National Society of Leadership and Succes. This is the charter group of members into the TROY chapter of the NSLS. The NSLS is the nation's largest leadership honor society. Students are selected by their college for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction.

Dean's List Spring 2019

The Order of Omega chapter at The University of Alabama presented awards at its recent annual banquet. Order of Omega is a leadership honor society for members of fraternity and sorority organizations. Order of Omega recognizes juniors and seniors who have exemplified high standards in the areas of scholarship, leadership and involvement within their respective organizations, the campus and the community.

Apparel design students at The University of Alabama's College of Human Environmental Sciences let their imaginations run wild for a special fashion show that celebrated Earth Week. Tasked with upcycling finds from thrift stores, family attics and a few unconventional sources, designers created a array of clothing for the annual Tee Time Fashion Show on April 16.

The University of Alabama has inducted a new group of students into its chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Founded on Dec. 5, 1776, The Phi Beta Kappa Society is the nation's most prestigious academic honor society. It has chapters at 286 colleges and universities in the United States, 50 alumni associations, and more than half a million members worldwide. Noteworthy members include 17 U.S. presidents, 39 justices of the Supreme Court of the United States and more than 130 Nobel laureates. The mission of The Phi Beta Kappa Society is to champion education in the liberal arts and sciences, foster freedom of thought, and recognize academic excellence. UA's chapter was founded in 1851. Students are elected to membership on the basis of outstanding academic achievement in the liberal arts and sciences.

Troy University's Department of Theatre and Dance celebrated 10 years of its program with a show titled "Together We" in February. About 70 students and alumni participated in "Together We," a performance that takes place in conjunction with TROY's annual Day of Dance, in which dance students participate in masterclasses with professional working dance alumni. The show ran Feb. 21-23 and Feb. 24.

The University of Alabama recently selected 40 students as Capstone Men and Women. Capstone Men and Women serve as official ambassadors of UA. They assist the University president's office, admissions and alumni during functions held on campus and in other locations, as well as host daily tours of the campus for prospective students and other visitors.

Each spring, a group of UA theatre students flies to New York to participate in a showcase known informally as Bama on Broadway. The showcase is designed to highlight students' skill as they perform for an audience that includes Broadway talent agents and often ends with performers signing contracts or being called back for auditions. Students prepare for the showcase by enrolling in a one-hour course designed to ready them for the one-shot performance. In the course, which is offered the preceding fall semester, students work together to find, choose and rehearse material that emphasizes each student's individual strengths.

The Mississippi College Office of Academic Affairs releases the dean's list after the close of fall and spring semesters each academic year. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must maintain a 3.5 grade point average, based on a 4.0 system. The student must take a full course load of at least 12 semester hours of undergraduate credit with all academic courses impacting their grade point average.

The Jacksonville State University marching band, the Marching Southerners, received a blessing from Pope Francis while performing in the Rome New Year's Day Parade on Jan. 1.
